LRSEF Projects Win Special Awards at ISEF

Vishaal Balamurugan and Joshua Jacob won special awards at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair!

Vishaal Balamurugan (North Oldham High School) won $1,000 from the American Physiological Society for his project, Bioengineering Islet Cells using 3D-Bio Printing Technology for the Treatment of Type One Diabetes.

Joshua Jacob (Saint Xavier High School) won a $10,000 scholarship from Naval Research for his project, Development of a Hybrid Direct Ink Writing 3D Printer: a Novel Approach to 3D Printing Multi-material Functional Devices and Flexible Electronics.

Both students attended ISEF with the Kentucky Science & Engineering Fair because their projects won after advancing from LRSEF to KY-SEF.

The Special Awards Ceremony took place on Wednesday, May 18, at 7pm PST. The Grand Awards Ceremony will take place today, May 19, at 9am PST (12pm EST).
