Media Advisory: Louisville Regional Science & Engineering Fair, presented by GE Appliances, showcases creativity and talent of area youth

Students to compete Saturday at UofL in a variety of STEM categories

On Saturday, March 7, at the University of Louisville, more than 350 middle and high school students from nearly two dozen schools will showcase their creativity and best ideas in innovation during the annual Louisville Regional Science & Engineering Fair (LRSEF) presented by GE Appliances.

Students will show their projects and present to a panel of judges in a variety of STEM categories, including computer science, biological and environmental sciences, chemistry, plant and animal sciences, and all areas of engineering. Students have the opportunity to earn a variety of prizes and incentives, and winning students will move on to state and international events.

Each year, GE Appliances supports the LRSEF through mentorship, volunteer service, fundraising and other assistance.

  • Students will present projects from 9 – 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 – 3 p.m.
  • Leaders from GE Appliances will present awards from 3:45 – 5:15 p.m.


The LRSEF mission is to awaken, promote, and recognize science and engineering talent among area youth and act as a catalyst to promote science and engineering throughout Kentucky. LRSEF serves all interested students in grades 6-12 living in 52 Kentucky counties. Students are encouraged to register for the annual LRSEF as a result of being selected as a winning project at their school or county science and engineering fair. If no locally accessible fair is held, any student in public, private or home school may register directly to enter LRSEF with the support of their teachers.
