LRSEF is developing several resources for students and teachers to conduct their research projects remotely. These resources will be continually updated in the next few months and will include:
- Home-Based Science and Engineering Research Projects – This list will include resources from existing websites and research projects that are aligned with LRSEF research categories.
- Virtual Science Fair Club – An online club run by schools or adults to help students conduct science fair projects from home. This is a 14-week extra-curricular program that could be run by a school or by an adult or group of adults who are homeschooling their children.
- Research grants, mentors, and support for Under-Represented Minority (URM*) students and low-income** students conducting science and engineering research. LRSEF can connect eligible students to experts and resources thanks to a grant from Amazon. Students can see if they are eligible by completing our Student Equity in STEM Fund Sign Up Form.
*As defined by the Kentucky Public Postsecondary Education Policy for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion: Underrepresented Minority (URM) – Students who categorized themselves as 1) Hispanic or Latino, b) American Indian or Alaska Native, c) Black or African American, d) native Hawaiian or Other Pacific islander, or e) Two or more races.
**Low-income is defined as students who are eligible for free or reduced lunch.
