The Society for Science and the Public and the Broadcom Foundation selected four Louisville students as part of the Top 300 Broadcom MASTERS, with one student advancing advancing as one of 30 finalists.
Mary Shea Ballantine, Ella Diehl, Katie Quinn, and Emerson Wyatt — all of Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic School — were selected to the Top 300 from a pool of over 2,300 applications nationwide. Mary Shea Ballantine went on to be named among the top 30 finalists.
Broadcom MASTERS is the nation’s premier Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) middle school competition. The program, founded and produced by the Society for Science & the Public, seeks to inspire young scientists, engineers and innovators who will solve the grand challenges of the future.
The finalists will travel to Washington, DC where they will participate in a rigorous competition that leverages Project-based Learning to test and demonstrate their mastery of 21st Century skills of critical thinking, communication, creativity and collaboration in each of the STEM areas.
